News Topical, Digital Desk : Stocks to watch:  Trading in the Indian stock market remained sluggish on Tuesday, the second trading day of the week. Amid widespread selling and weak global cues, both the Sensex and Nifty closed lower. Investors are now focused on today's trading. Shares like Eternal, Tata Motors, Restaurant Brands Asia, AU Small Finance Bank, and RBL Bank, among others, will be in focus today. Let's take a look at these:

RBL Bank

Emirates NBD Bank's proposal to acquire a controlling stake in RBL Bank has received approval from the Competition Commission of India. Emirates NBD is a leading banking group with operations in several countries, including India, headquartered in Dubai. The transaction will see Emirates NBD Bank acquire a majority stake in the bank through a primary investment of approximately $3 billion (approximately Rs 26,850 crore). This includes an open offer to public shareholders, a preferential allotment of shares, and the merger of Emirates NBD's India banking operations into RBL Bank. 

Tata Motors

French multinational bank BNP Paribas on Tuesday bought over 35.43 lakh shares of Tata Motors Limited (Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles) in a block deal. Goldman Sachs was the seller in this ₹152 crore deal.

Eternal 

Shares of Eternal Limited, the parent company of Zomato and Blinkit, will be in focus as the company will announce its quarterly results on Wednesday, January 21. Additionally, DRL, HPCL, and Tata Communications will also announce their third-quarter results.                                                                                                                        

Restaurant Brands Asia

Shares of Restaurant Brands Asia, the company that runs Burger King, may also see movement today after the company said on Tuesday that Inspira Global will acquire a controlling stake in the Burger King India and Indonesia operator for about Rs 460 crore ($50.54 million).

Under the deal, Inspira will acquire the entire 11.26% shareholding in Restaurant Brands Asia (RBA) from Everstone's investment vehicle, QSR Asia. Inspira also plans to invest approximately ₹900 crore through a preferential allotment of shares and ₹600 crore through warrants. 

JSW Energy

JSW Thermal Energy Two, a subsidiary of JSW Energy, has signed a power purchase agreement with the West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company for a 1,600 MW thermal power project in Salboni, West Bengal. The project will be developed in two units of 800 MW each and is expected to be operational within six years.

AU Small Finance Bank

AU Small Finance Bank's profit jumped 26% in the December quarter to ₹668 crore, compared to ₹528 crore in the same quarter last year. The bank's interest earnings (NII) also grew 16% in Q3FY26, reaching ₹2,341 crore compared to ₹2,023 crore in the same quarter last fiscal year.

Quarterly results of these companies will come

Several major companies are scheduled to announce their Q3 results today, including Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, HPCL, Tata Communications, Bank of India, Canara HSBC Life Insurance, and UTI AMC. Also on the list are Dalmia Bharat, Jindal Stainless, KEI Industries, Supreme Industries, Oracle Financial Services, Bajaj Consumer, Muthoot Capital, KPI Green, and Anant Raj.

Other companies that released their quarterly results today include Chembond Speciality Chemicals, Gravita India, Goa Carbon, Sagar Cement, Rajratan Wires, Refex Industries, Tatva Chintan Pharma, Thangamayil Jewellers, EPack Prefab, Eternal, PNB Agro and Dhanlaxmi Bank.
