News Topical, Digital Desk : Sweating is a natural reaction of the body, but excessive sweating without any reason can also be a sign of some other problem. By knowing its real reason, you can also avoid this problem. We all sweat, but there are some people who sweat more than normal. People who sweat a lot must also have this question in their mind that why is this happening to me? Let's know the answer to this question-
How much sweating is normal?
Although it is difficult to say exactly about it, but generally people sweat about 500 ml every day. If your body temperature increases a lot, then your sweat glands start cooling it down. 37 degrees is considered to be the normal body temperature. Then why is it that someone sweats more than necessary. These can be the reasons for this:-
- Exercise: When you workout and your heart rate increases, your body temperature increases. This makes your sweat glands work and you sweat. During exercise, about 2 liters of fluid is released from your body. Therefore, to keep the body cool, it is advisable to take as much fluid as possible before and after the workout.
- Weather: When the weather gets hotter, the chances of sweating increase. Also, the hot, humid air is unable to absorb the sweat from your body.
- Alcohol: Having just one drink can increase your heart rate and dilate the blood vessels in your skin. This can make you sweat more. If you are trying to quit drinking, you will sweat more and may even sweat more at night while sleeping.
- Some diseases: Hypothyroidism, diabetes, Graves' disease, Parkinson's disease or spinal cord injury can also cause excessive sweating. If you feel that excessive sweating is due to some disease, then consult a doctor immediately.
- Medicines: Sometimes excessive sweating can also occur due to some medicines taken for diseases like anti-depressants, blood pressure and diabetes. You can talk to your doctor about this.
- Anxiety: Stress hormones trigger your sweat glands. Your heart rate increases and so does your blood pressure. This causes your body temperature to rise. Emotional stress can cause your hands and feet to sweat more.
- Hormones: During menopause, your estrogen levels fluctuate. In such a situation, the hypothalamus, a part of your brain, gets confused whether to cool down or not. Hot flashes are the result of this, as your body feels that its temperature is increasing. In this situation, your sweat glands start working more.
Caffeine and spicy food also cause more sweating
What you eat and drink also affects the amount of sweat you produce. Drinking coffee or tea activates the central nervous system that controls your sweat glands because of the caffeine present in them. Something similar happens with spicy food. If you are drinking two cups of coffee, you should also drink two glasses of water to balance it.
What to do when you sweat a lot
- Keep drinking water and keep the body temperature under control.
- Wear light and cotton clothes.
- Avoid eating too much spicy food.
