New Delhi. Madhura Jasraj, wife of renowned classical singer Pandit Jasraj and daughter of famous film personality V. Shantaram, died at her home on Wednesday morning. This information was given by her daughter Durga Jasraj. Madhura was 86 years old and was ill for a long time.

Madhura Jasraj has two children, Durga Jasraj and Sharang Dev. Her spokesperson Pritam Sharma shared a note informing about her last journey. Madhura's body will be taken from her Andheri residence to Oshiwara crematorium in the afternoon, where her last rites will be performed between 4 and 4:30 pm on Wednesday.
Active as a writer, filmmaker and choreographer, Madhura made a documentary titled 'Sangeet Martand Pandit Jasraj' in 2009. Apart from this, she also wrote the biography of her father V. Shantaram and several other novels.
How did you meet?
Madhura and Pandit Jasraj got married in the year 1962. In an interview to Times of India, Pandit Jasraj told that he first met Madhura at a musical concert on March 6, 1954. At that time, Madhura's father, the great filmmaker V. Shantaram was making a film called Ink Ink Payal Baaje. Jasraj was asked to talk to Madhura so that he could introduce her to Shantaram.
Earlier in August 2020, Pandit Jasraj died at the age of 90 due to cardiac arrest. Jasraj was a classical singer who has also been awarded the Padma Bhushan. Jasraj and Madhura Pandit's daughter Durga is a musician and actress. While son Sharang Dev is a music director.
