According to a report in the Times of India, the Manipuri film "Boong" has been nominated in the "Best Children and Family Film" category. The Manipuri film "Boong" will compete with other major international films in this category, including "Arco," "Lilo & Stitch," and “Zootropolis.”
'Boong' is directed by Laxmi Priya Devi and produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani's Excel Entertainment.

The movie's star cast includes Gugun Kipgen as the titular character, "Brojendro aka Boong." Bala Hijam, Angham Sanamatham, Vikram Kochhar, Nemetiya Ngangbam, Jenny Khurai, Hamom Sadanand, Thoudam Brajabidhu, and Modhubala Thoudam also play pivotal roles.
What is the story of 'Boong'?
Released in September 2024, the film tells the story of Boong, a young boy living in the hills of Manipur. He plans to give his mother a surprise gift. Boong believes that bringing his estranged father back home would be the greatest gift he could ever give her. With this hope, Boong sets out in search of his father, but on his journey, he finds many unexpected surprises.
"Boong" had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Last year, the film was also included as a spotlight film at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne.
The BAFTA Awards will be held at the Royal Festival Hall in London on February 22, 2026. Scottish actor, writer, and host Alan Cumming will host the awards night.
