News Topical, Digital Desk : Efforts are underway to douse the fire that broke out due to a gas pipeline leak at an ONGC oil well in Andhra Pradesh's Dr BR Ambedkar Konaseema district.

A 20-metre-high fire broke out on Monday afternoon at the Mori-5 oil well, operated by Deep Industries Limited.

Deep Industries Ltd had bagged a Rs 1,402 crore contract for production augmentation operations at ONGC's Rajahmundry asset in 2024.

Officials said ONGC specialist teams have arrived from Mumbai and Delhi to extinguish the fire. Senior Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) management, including the Director of Technology and Field Services from Delhi and experts from the crisis management team, have assumed operational control of the well.

Continuous efforts have reduced the fire's intensity, but it has not yet been extinguished. Work has been completed to construct a temporary canal from a nearby source of water for high-capacity firewater pumps. Fire pumps have arrived at the well site .
