News Topical, Digital Desk : According to sources, the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs (CCPA) has proposed January 28 for the start of Parliament's budget session and February 1 for the presentation of the Union Budget. While a final decision is still pending, the government is moving towards maintaining this date despite February 1 being a Sunday to maintain predictability in financial processes.

The Budget Session is the first parliamentary session of the calendar year, beginning with the President's address to a joint sitting of both Houses. This is followed by the presentation of the Economic Survey and the presentation of the Budget.

Since 2017, the Union Budget has been presented on February 1, with the aim of improving fiscal administration and implementing the budget before the start of the new financial year. Previously, it was presented on the last working day of February.

The budget session is typically held in two phases, with a break in between to allow standing committees to review ministries' demands for grants. Several important bills are also expected to be discussed and introduced in this session.
