News Topical, Digital Desk : Mild tremors were felt in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The ground began shaking around 3:30 a.m. today (Monday). According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the earthquake's intensity was measured at 4.6 on the Richter scale.

NCS gave information

The NCS, providing information about the earthquake, said the epicenter was located 10 kilometers below ground level. However, due to the low intensity, there were no casualties or damage to property.

Earthquake tremors have occurred before

It should be noted that the Andaman and Nicobar Islands fall within Seismic Zone 5, which is very close to the tectonic plane. Previously, on December 26, 2004, an earthquake caused massive devastation here. The earthquake's powerful tremors triggered a tsunami, causing high waves.

However, the deeper the earthquake's epicenter is, the less dangerous it is. However, shallow earthquakes are considered more dangerous because their surface waves can wreak havoc on the ground.
