
News Topical, Digital Desk : A murder case has come to light in Dumka, Jharkhand, where a son-in-law, upset over not receiving a tractor as dowry, beat his father-in-law to death with a stick. Police have arrested the accused and recovered the stick used in the murder. It is reported that the accused had married for love in the village about a year ago, but after the marriage, he had his eyes set on his father-in-law's property and was constantly demanding a tractor.
The incident occurred in the Saraiyahat police station area of the district when Ravindra Kapri, a resident of Govindpur village, went to visit his daughter at her and her son-in-law's house in the same village. During the altercation, the son-in-law, Sudhir Yadav (23), brutally beat his father-in-law with sticks and stones.
A man died during treatment at Deoghar Sadar Hospital.
Upon receiving information about the incident, the police rushed the seriously injured man to the Saraiyahat Community Health Center by ambulance. After receiving first aid, he was referred to Deoghar due to his critical condition. He died during treatment at Deoghar Sadar Hospital.
There was often a quarrel between father-in-law and son-in-law regarding the tractor.
According to the incident, Ravindra (his father-in-law) owned three tractors of his own. Sudhir had been demanding one from his father-in-law. Ravindra had refused to give his son-in-law a tractor. This had often been a source of conflict between them. The previous day, Ravindra had learned that his daughter had been diagnosed with appendicitis. Upon learning of this, he had gone to his son-in-law's house to meet his daughter.
Son-in-law fatally attacked his father-in-law in his house
After meeting his daughter, Ravindra wanted to take her home for better treatment, but his son-in-law insisted that he wouldn't let him take his wife unless he got a tractor. The dispute escalated, and the son-in-law fatally attacked his father-in-law, breaking his legs and arms. The seriously injured father-in-law was admitted to the local PHC, where doctors referred him to Deoghar, where he died later that evening.
The accused had a love marriage with Sonam of the same village.
It is said that the son-in-law accused of murder had married Sonam, a resident of the same village, a year earlier. Sonam is her parents' only daughter. They live in the same neighborhood in the village. After the love marriage, Sudhir had been eyeing his father-in-law's property. He frequently demanded a tractor and land from his father-in-law. Meanwhile, Ravindra, taunting his son-in-law about his poverty, threatened to give him something only after he became a live-in son-in-law.

Meanwhile, District Superintendent of Police Pitambar Singh Kherwar confirmed the incident, saying, "The accused fatally attacked and injured his father-in-law. After treatment at the community health center, he was referred to Deoghar for serious condition and died during treatment. The accused has been arrested."
