We get up in a hurry. During this time our nervousness is so much that we start sweating a lot. We also start feeling scared. But have you ever thought that our eating habits are the reason behind these bad dreams?
Let us tell you that if you eat cheese or any milk product before sleeping, you get nightmares. It is not us who say this, a study published in the journal Frontiers in Psychology claims this. The study states that eating dairy products, especially cheese, causes nightmares. In fact, Lactose Intolerant people not only have stomach problems after eating dairy products, but they also have nightmares while sleeping at night.
What does the study say?
This study was published in Frontiers in Psychology on 1 July 2025. One thousand college students were included in the study. During this, it was found that people who were allergic to milk or dairy products were having more scary dreams after eating things like milk, curd or cheese at night. Actually, eating dairy products causes their stomach to bloat, gas starts forming and cramps occur. These stomach problems take the form of fear in dreams.
Tore Nielsen, a professor at the University of Montreal and co-author of this study, said that if there is heartburn, gas or cramps in the stomach, then sleep is not good. Due to this, the mind is not able to rest. This is why nightmares start coming. However, scientists say that more research is needed. This will confirm what is the deep relationship between food and dreams.
