"Former FBI Director James Comey just called for Trump's assassination. DHS and the Secret Service are investigating this threat and will respond appropriately," Noem posted on the social media platform X.

James Comey gave clarification

However, James Comey later posted on Instagram saying that he saw a picture of some shells while walking on the beach today, which I thought was a political message.

He said, "I did not know that some people associate these numbers with violence. It never came to my mind, but I am against any kind of violence, so I removed the post."
