News Topical, Digital Desk : A recent raid in the bustling streets of Karol Bagh brought back memories of the Bollywood film "Special 26." On the evening of November 27th, five men suddenly entered a jewelry workshop—one in uniform and the others in plain clothes. Posing as government officials, they rummaged through everything from drawers to shelves. After a few minutes of searching the place, they left, claiming the operation was complete. But when the workshop owner learned the truth, the ground slipped from under his feet. This was a complete, film-esque fraud.

The incident took place in Dev Nagar, Central District, where Madan Mandal runs his small jewelry workshop on the fourth floor of a narrow alley in Block 2. On the afternoon of November 27th, business was proceeding as usual when five men arrived. One was in a Delhi Police uniform, and the other four were in civilian clothes. Without flinching, they introduced themselves as Income Tax and GST officials and exerted pressure.

Papers, shelves, and then the excuse of 'processing'

Upon arrival, the alleged officials demanded documents, opened the workshop cabinets, and pretended to inspect every nook and cranny. Everything appeared extremely professional and credible. Then, in the name of "processing," they had approximately one kilogram of gold packed and told them to take it away. Citing a departmental investigation, they also took the DVRs from the CCTV cameras installed in the workshop, as if it were an official seizure.

When the secret was revealed, there was no raid, no department.

As soon as the criminals left, Madan Mandal, suspicious, called an income tax officer he knew. He received a response, saying no raid had been conducted. Realizing he had been duped, he immediately reported the incident to the Prasad Nagar police.

CCTV reveals the secret, several suspects in custody

Upon receiving the information, a team from Prasad Nagar police station arrived at the scene, registered a case, and formed separate teams. Police examined footage from CCTV cameras installed around the workshop. With the help of technical surveillance, the suspects were quickly identified. According to sources, several suspects involved in the incident have been detained and are being interrogated.
