News Topical, Digital Desk : When the new government was formed in Bihar three months ago, it was claimed that criminals would be wiped out of the state within three months. However, incidents in the capital, Patna, are exposing the state of law and order in Bihar. First, a father was murdered in the Biscoman Colony of the Alamganj police station area, and now the family is being threatened.
The victim's family has appealed to police officials and the government for protection, while the opposition has targeted Home Minister Samrat Chaudhary, who had claimed to have the perpetrators released within three months.
What is the whole matter?
According to reports, on April 18, 2023, property dealer Arjun Singh was shot dead in the Alamganj police station area of Patna due to a land dispute. The deceased's family filed an FIR naming several local residents. Police arrested the main accused, Vijay Yadav, and sent them to jail. However, after being granted bail, they are now roaming the area fearlessly and threatening the family.
On the evening of January 21st, these criminals stormed the victim's home, threatened to withdraw the case, and pelted them with stones. The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed near the house. Even two days after the incident, the police have yet to take any concrete action, further emboldening the criminals.
Victim's family in panic
Victim Bharat Bhushan said that after his father's murder, the family has been constantly facing threats. "We live in fear, fearing a similar incident." He said that the women and children in the family cover their faces when leaving the house, as they have to send their young children to school. There is always the fear that the criminals might do something untoward. Bharat Bhushan's wife said, "We have small children. We are always afraid that something might happen to them."
Police launched an investigation, but made no arrests.
Patna City SP Raj Kishore Singh stated that the victim's family has filed a complaint and the case is under investigation. No accused will be spared. Since the case is already a murder, the investigation will be conducted point-by-point.
