Cold day alert issued for these parts of the country, temperatures in Punjab reached 3.6°C; rain expected in the next 24 hours

News Topical, Digital Desk : The northern part of the country is shrouded in a thick blanket of fog, while the western and southern regions are experiencing clear skies and warm weather. Temperatures remain largely normal. Snowfall is occurring in the hilly states of the country, and some places have also received light rain in the past 24 hours. The Meteorological Department has issued a fog and cold day alert for northern India for the next 24 hours. 

Cold day alert in these states

Minimum temperatures are between 5-10°C in Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, central Maharashtra, Bihar, Gujarat, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Manipur. The lowest minimum temperature in the plains of India was recorded at 3.6°C in Bathinda (Punjab). 

The weather department said that dense to very dense fog conditions are likely at isolated places in Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Uttar Pradesh during the morning/night hours on February 4. Similar conditions will prevail in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, western Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh on the 4th and 5th.

The Meteorological Department said that on February 5 and 6, there may be rain and snowfall along with strong winds in Jammu and Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

Delhi-NCR weather today

Dense fog enveloped Delhi-NCR this morning, reducing visibility during the morning. The sky will remain partly cloudy today. The maximum and minimum temperatures in Delhi are expected to be between 21°C to 23°C and 08°C to 10°C respectively. The minimum temperature will remain near normal and the maximum temperature will also remain near normal in Delhi. On Tuesday, the maximum temperature at Safdarjung was recorded at 22.5°C, which was 0.2°C above normal. While the minimum temperature was recorded at 9.4°C. The maximum temperature at Palam was recorded at 19.5°C, which was below normal. While the minimum temperature was 8.6°C.

The weather in Mumbai and Ahmedabad will be clear today. The maximum temperature will be 32°C, and the minimum temperature will be 24°C. Winds are expected to blow at a speed of 10.3 km/h.
