This incident has happened in Badeth Dungar Tok under Tehsil Basukedaar area of Rudraprayag and Dewal area of Chamoli. There is news of some families being trapped in the debris. At the same time, two people are reported missing in Chamoli.
Cloud burst in Dewal area of Chamoli
In Kaleshwar in Dewal area of Chamoli, debris fell from the mountain top which entered people's houses; efforts are being made to remove the debris with the help of JCB machine. Due to heavy rains, rivers and streams are overflowing in Jyotirmath, Dewal, Narayan Bagad, Tharali, Nanda Nagar Karna Prayag, Gairsain, Dasholi of Chamoli district. Two persons, Tara Singh and his wife, are reported to be missing due to cloudburst in Mopata of Tehsil Dewal late last night. Vikram Singh and his wife are reported to be injured.
The situation worsened due to cloudburst in Rudraprayag too
The concerned teams are working on the spot to open this National Highway. On the other hand, due to the torrential rain in Rudraprayag, life has become disrupted. Due to the rain since late night, the National Highway Gaurikund Rudraprayag Rishikesh Badrinath has been closed at many places, whereas the water level of the rivers is rising above the danger mark. Due to landslides at many places, debris has fallen on the road. Many vehicles are stuck. Due to the torrential rain, people have left their homes at many places. There has been torrential rain in Besan Kedar area in Kali Mat Valley.
Heavy rains also caused devastation in Uttarkashi
The late night rain has again caused havoc in Uttarkashi district. Rivers and streams are in spate. Roads in the district have suffered heavy damage. Gangotri National Highway is closed at more than half a dozen places.
Gangotri National Highway has been closed at many places including Nalu Pani, Naluna, Chadethi, Papad Gad, Netala due to heavy debris and stones. More than a dozen rural roads have also been blocked. Heavy rains have caused heavy damage due to waterlogging, landslides and debris and stones.
