News Topical, Digital Desk : FBI Director Kash Patel on Wednesday defended the Trump administration's handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files, which he questioned by Democrats. A video from the US Capitol building is going viral in which some people can be heard chanting against Patel over the Epstein case and the US stance on Israel.
Video from the US Capitol building shows an activist saying, "You don't care about child rape." However, the FBI director is seen avoiding questions and remaining silent.
You are serving Israel.
"We see and hear every day what the FBI is doing," Patel says in the video, prompting the protester to accuse him of prioritizing Israeli interests, saying, “You claim to be serving the American people? You're serving Israel.”
Kash Patel questioned in the Epstein case
Jamie Raskin played a clip from a 2023 interview in which Patel said the FBI had Epstein's "black book" containing the names of clients. After a lengthy review, the Justice Department said in July that there was no evidence of the existence of the so-called "client list" and that it would not publicly release any files it possessed.
"How did you go from being someone who fought for accountability and transparency for the Epstein files to being part of the conspiracy and cover-up?" Raskin said.
The FBI director responded that the law enforcement agency had already released everything related to the files as "legally permitted."
FBI to investigate Trump's claim
Patel then indicated that the FBI would investigate Trump's claim that a sexually explicit letter to Epstein, allegedly bearing the president's signature, was fake.
Democratic Representative Jared Moskowitz asked Patel if he would "launch an investigation into Epstein's estate for releasing fake documents."
