News Topical, Digital Desk : Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the state's rich history, current progress, and future prospects at the inauguration of the new Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly complex. Describing the occasion as "historic," he said he was proud to witness the transformation of Chhattisgarh's 25-year journey.

Recalling his close relationship with Chhattisgarh, Prime Minister Modi said that as a worker, he spent considerable time here and learned a great deal. On this occasion, he paid tribute to Chhattisgarh's great intellectuals who were members of the Constituent Assembly: Ravi Shankar Shukla, Barrister Thakur Chhedilal, Ghanshyam Singh Gupta, Kishori Mohan Tripathi, Ram Prasad Putai, and Raghuraj. He said that these luminaries, having come to Delhi from backward areas, played a crucial role in the drafting of the Constitution under the leadership of Baba Saheb.

Integrating heritage and development

Echoing the nationwide sentiment, the Prime Minister said that today the entire country is moving forward together, carrying heritage and development. He noted the significance of the sacred Sangola in the country's Parliament and said that the galleries of the new Parliament reflect the antiquity of India's democracy. He expressed happiness that this same thought and spirit is reflected in the new Assembly building of Chhattisgarh, which reflects the state's rich culture.


The story of the end and transformation of Maoism

Prime Minister Modi described Chhattisgarh's transformation over the past 25 years as "amazing and inspiring." He said, "Once known for Maoism and backwardness, this state is today becoming a symbol of prosperity, security, and literature. India is moving towards eliminating Naxalism and Maoist terrorism. Today, the Bastar Olympics are being discussed in every corner of the country." He attributed this transformation to "the hard work of the people of Chhattisgarh and the visionary leadership of the BJP governments." Referring to the Muria Darbar (Bastar's primitive parliament), he said that in Chhattisgarh, society and government have been working together to solve problems.

Developed India 2047 goal

The Prime Minister described the celebration of Chhattisgarh's Silver Jubilee as a starting point. He emphasized that Chhattisgarh will play a significant role in achieving the goal of building a developed India by 2047. He urged all public representatives to set an example of a Legislative Assembly that inspires every state in a developed India, with the goal always being "Develop Chhattisgarh, Build India."

Public welfare is the criterion of excellence

The Prime Minister said that the excellence of the new Assembly will be determined not by the grandeur of its building, but by the public welfare decisions taken there. He appealed to the MLAs that every decision they make should be aimed at farmers, youth, women empowerment, and upliftment. He said that the Assembly is not merely a place for lawmaking, but a vibrant center for shaping Chhattisgarh's destiny. He called upon everyone to pledge to put "duty above all else" and make "service to the people" a lifelong commitment. Prime Minister Modi thanked the Chief Minister, and especially Raman Singh, for making this vision a reality and extended his best wishes to everyone on the inauguration of this new temple of democracy.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee's talent also unveiled

At the inauguration of the new Vidhan Sabha building in Sector 19, Naya Raipur, the Prime Minister unveiled a statue of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He also planted a tree in the name of his mother. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Governor Ramen Deka, Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, Leader of the Opposition Dr. Charandas Mahant, and Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh were also present. Speaker Raman Singh stated that 80 percent of the state's material contributed to the construction of the Vidhan Sabha building. Each brick of the Vidhan Sabha reflects Chhattisgarh's identity. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai stated that Prime Minister Modi elevated the country from 11th to fourth place. He doesn't provoke anyone, and he doesn't spare those who provoke him. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla began his address with "Jai Johar." He stated that the inauguration of the new Vidhan Sabha building by Modi's lotus hands is a matter of pride. This new building will help improve the democratic system.

New Assembly building to be 'eco-friendly'

The new Assembly building, spread over 20.78 hectares at a cost of approximately ₹273 crore, was completed in approximately three years. Its foundation stone was laid in August 2020, and construction began in August 2022. Designed in the style of traditional palaces, the building features 13 impressive domes, each carved with bowl-shaped rice ears—a symbol of the state's rich agricultural tradition. The building's 13 doors also feature intricately carved rice ears. Its design resembles the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Currently designed to house 90 MLAs, the building has been expanded to accommodate 120 members with a future-ready seating capacity. The building is divided into three blocks: A, B, and C. Equipped with modern facilities, the building houses the Assembly Secretariat, Central Hall, Auditorium, three meeting halls, a visitors' gallery, a media lounge, an art gallery, and a canteen. Its walls and corridors are decorated with traditional art from Bastar and Surguja. The special thing is that in this, seating arrangements have been made for the current MLAs as well as the former MLAs, which was not there in the old assembly.

These arrangements are made in three blocks.

Block A - Offices of Secretary, Deputy Secretary, officers and employees, Committee branch rooms and other branches related to the Assembly
Block B - Chambers and offices of the House, Speaker of the Assembly, Deputy Speaker, Chief Minister, Leader of the Opposition, Central Hall, Members Lounge, Dining Area, Chief and Principal Secretary's Office, Attention and Reporter Branch Block
C - Chambers of Ministers and MLAs, Allopathy, Homeopathy and Ayurvedic Hospital on the Lower Ground Floor, Railway Reservation, Post Office and Bank
