News Topical, Digital Desk : Even before stepping down as Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar appears to be active. He embarked on a tour of his home district, Bakhtiyarpur, on Saturday (March 7) to review development projects. During this visit, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will inspect the Bakhtiyarpur Engineering College and review ongoing projects there. He will also issue necessary guidelines to officials. JDU minister Vijay Chaudhary is also present with the Chief Minister.
Nitish Kumar is set to go to Rajya Sabha
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is seeking a Rajya Sabha seat. He filed his nomination for the Rajya Sabha on Thursday (March 5). Nitish Kumar has served as a member of both houses of the Bihar Legislature. He also served as a Lok Sabha member, but was unable to become a Rajya Sabha member. He had announced his desire to join the Rajya Sabha before filing his nomination.
Nitish Kumar files nomination in presence of Amit Shah
Janata Dal United (JDU) chief and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar filed his nomination papers in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah . Shah arrived in Patna from Delhi for the occasion. Several other leaders, including both deputy chief ministers of Bihar, were also present during the nomination. The NDA has a majority of 202 MLAs in the 243-member Bihar Assembly. However, it will need three more votes to win all five seats. Voting for the Rajya Sabha elections is on March 16.
He became the CM of Bihar for the first time in the year 2000.
Nitish Kumar first assumed the Chief Minister's post in Bihar in 2000, though his tenure lasted only seven days. He completed his five-year term in 2005. After that, he remained in power continuously, except for a brief period between May 2014 and February 2015.
The 2025 assembly elections were also fought in the name of Nitish.

Now, just four months later, he will be elected to the Rajya Sabha. Meanwhile, there are talks of Nitish Kumar's son, Nishant Kumar, entering active politics. It is being said that he could be appointed Deputy Chief Minister.
