The virtual ID in the Aadhaar card is a 16-digit number. This virtual ID can be used for authentication and e-KYC in place of the UID number. However, it is a temporary number. The Aadhaar number of any Aadhaar cardholder cannot be found through the virtual ID. An Aadhaar card holder can use this virtual ID of the Aadhaar card for various purposes.

Generating Virtual ID of Aadhaar Card

The official website

• First, you must visit the official website of the Unique Identification Authority of India.
• Now, here, you have to select the language as per your convenience in Hindi or English.
• Now, on the website, you have to click on the Virtual ID (VID) Generator in Aadhaar Services at the bottom.
• Now you have to enter your Aadhar card number and captcha.
• Now you will have to enter the OTP received using the registered mobile number.
• Now, you will see your virtual ID on the screen.
• This virtual ID is also sent to the registered mobile number.

Via SMS

Apart from the official website, you can also get a virtual ID by sending an SMS from your phone. For this, you have to type the last 4 digits of the Aadhaar number along with RVID from your registered mobile number and send it to 1947. For example, if the last 4 digits of the Aadhaar card are 4565, then the text of the message should be RVID 4565.
