News Topical, Digital Desk : The deadline for the voter deep revision in Uttar Pradesh may be extended, sources have claimed. Sources claim that the Election Commission of India may soon extend the deadline by two weeks in Uttar Pradesh. According to sources, State Election Commission chief Navdeep Rinwa has applied to the Election Commission for two more weeks. It was reported that SIR forms for 29.1 million voters have not yet been received.
Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa stated that the work is 99.13% complete. Data for a total of 15.44 crore voters in the state was updated by 2 pm. According to this, 80% of voters submitted enumeration forms. A draft voter list is being prepared based on these forms. Voters have been classified into several categories, including deceased, transferred, duplicate, etc. Approximately 18.85%, or approximately 2.91 crore voters, are in the unavailable/unknown category. The names of these voters may be removed from the list.
In such a situation, the Commission requested two weeks' additional time to ensure the process is foolproof. Meetings are underway at every polling station between the Block Development Officer (BLO) and booth agents of political parties. Clear instructions have been given to document the reasons for missing names. For the first time, voter identification will be verified through mapping. Names are being linked to previous lists, parents, or grandparents.

So far, digital records have been created by collecting forms from over 130 million people in the state. He stated that the 5.15 lakh booth-level agents active in the field are responsible for ensuring that no valid voters are left out. A proposal has been made to extend the SIR process by 14 days.
The CEO stated that digitization of 124 million of the 154.4 million names has been completed. The 29.1 million dead/duplicate names will be verified, and the list will be made public and objections will be taken.
