News Topical, Digital Desk : Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has launched a scathing attack on Muhammad Yunus, the chief advisor to the interim government. The former PM said, "Bangladesh has plunged into a period of terror. A conspiracy is being hatched to sell its resources to foreign interests."
National elections are scheduled to be held in Bangladesh on February 12th. Sheikh Hasina's party, the Awami League, has been banned and its registration suspended. Ahead of the elections, Sheikh Hasina has appealed to the people of Bangladesh to overthrow the Yunus government.
Sheikh Hasina attacks Yunus
Sheikh Hasina addressed a rally in India for the first time since leaving Bangladesh in 2024. Sheikh Hasina's speech was pre-recorded. "Bangladesh today stands on the edge of a precipice, a country devastated and drenched in blood, going through the most dangerous period in its history," the former prime minister said in her address to the people of Bangladesh.
Sheikh Hasina further said, "The motherland, won in the greatest liberation war under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, is now being devastated by the horrific onslaught of radical communal forces and foreign criminals. Our once peaceful and fertile land has now turned into a wounded, blood-soaked place. In fact, the entire country has become a huge prison, a place of execution, a valley of death."
The former Bangladeshi prime minister added, "Everywhere in the country, one can only hear the cries of people struggling to survive amid the devastation. A desperate plea for life, a heartbreaking cry for relief."
