News Topical, Digital Desk : Launching a scathing attack on the YSRCP, TTD Chairman BR Naidu on Friday alleged that a massive adulterated ghee scam involving the use of harmful chemicals in the preparation of laddu prasadam at the famous Tirumala temple took place during the YS Jaganmohan Reddy-led government.
He called this alleged adulteration an insult to Hindus. According to BR Naidu, during the previous government, approximately 6 million kilograms of adulterated ghee, worth approximately ₹250 crore, was supplied to the TTD.
Addressing a press conference in Tirupati, the TTD chairman said the CBI-run SIT chargesheet, which was recently filed in the Nellore ACB court, has exposed the alleged insult, loot and betrayal of crores of devotees.
"The massive scam of adulterating Streevari Laddus with harmful chemicals in ghee during the YSRCP regime is an insult to Hindus. The SIT chargesheet has exposed the TTD's humiliation, plunder and betrayal of crores of devotees," BR Naidu said.
According to the TTD chairman, the previous YSRCP regime manipulated ghee procurement tenders, changing eligibility criteria and awarding contracts to unqualified and incompetent companies. Companies without animals, without production facilities, and without the capacity to produce pure ghee were awarded tenders solely for commissions.
