News Topical, Digital Desk : A case of the kidnapping and murder of real estate businessman Gopal has come to light in Anekal, Bengaluru. Gopal's former business partner, Mohan Babu, has been implicated in the murder plot.
During the police investigation, it has come to light that Mohan suspected Gopal of practicing black magic against him, due to which Mohan was suffering losses in business.
Taking action in this case, the police arrested eight people, including two minors, from a hideout in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu late on Tuesday night on charges of kidnapping and murder.
Kidnapping on the way
According to information received from the police, the incident took place around 7 pm on Sunday evening, when Gopal was travelling in his SUV with his friend Satish.
Near Anekal, a mini-goods truck hit their car, forcing them to stop mid-road. As Gopal and Satish got out, the attackers sprayed Satish's face with a chemical and then forced Gopal into another vehicle and abducted him.
The next morning, Krishnagiri police found a body on the roadside near Denkanikote and alerted the Anekal police. After investigation, it was determined that the body was Gopal's.
Suspecting black magic, friend murdered
Gopal's wife, Swati, told police that his former business partner, Mohan Babu, was responsible for the murder. Gopal's wife claimed that Mohan and his associates had attacked her husband the previous year, but under pressure from Mohan, she did not file a police complaint.
Following Swati's statement, the police detained Mohan for questioning. During the interrogation, the police learned that Mohan had become deeply suspicious of Gopal's use of black magic against him and that this was the reason for his losses in his real estate business.
"Over the past five years, Gopal had started focusing on his own deals. Some of the previously joint deals were eventually handled by him alone, which resulted in substantial profits," a senior police officer said.
The police further said, 'Due to Gopal's increasing reputation, Mohan started feeling insecure and resentment arose in his mind.
