'My intention was to insult...' Priyadarshan clarifies his comment on Rajpal Yadav's poor education

News Topical, Digital Desk : Rajpal Yadav surrendered in a check bounce case on February 5th. The actor spent nearly a week in jail and was later granted interim bail. Meanwhile, several celebrities came forward to support Rajpal, including Priyadarshan.

Priyadarshan had asked the filmmakers to pay Rajpal more than his usual fee. Speaking on the case, Priyadarshan attributed Rajpal's troubles to his "low education." The director said that Rajpal's low education was the reason for this.

Rajpal Yadav replied to the comment

Rajpal Yadav also reacted to this, saying, "Priyadarshan doesn't know me. I'm educated." Priyadarshan has now clarified the matter, saying he didn't mean to insult Rajpal Yadav.

Speaking to HT City, Rajpay explained that his comment was about Rajpal's innocence and the challenges of working in the industry, rather than his academic background.

What did Priyadarshan say in his defense?

Priyadarshan said, "That's not what I actually meant. Look, education is something we learn on the street and also from books. That's what I meant (street smartness), probably because education also involves awareness. That's what I meant."

Priyadarshan further said that his observation stemmed from the actor's simplicity and trusting nature. "Perhaps he comes from a village, and the villagers are so innocent that they don't understand... You need to be able to differentiate between the right and the wrong. That's education on a grand scale."

Priyadarshan called Rajpal Yadav innocent

Priyadarshan said that he didn't mean to insult or humiliate the actor. "I said that because I've never seen such an innocent person in my life. Innocence comes largely from a lack of education."

Priyadarshan and Rajpal Yadav have worked together in many iconic films, including Bhagam Bhag, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, and Malamaal Weekly. Rajpal Yadav will also be seen in Priyadarshan's Bhoot Bangla, which will be released on April 10th.
