US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant will host a meeting of the G7 finance ministers in Washington, which will discuss critical minerals. The G7 includes Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States, as well as the European Union.

According to media reports, other countries, including India and Australia, have also been invited to the meeting. Vaishnav posted on the internet media, "I have arrived in Washington, DC. I will attend the Critical Minerals Ministerial Meeting tomorrow."
Why are critical minerals important for India?
Securing critical minerals supply chains is essential to our goal of a developed India. According to the International Energy Agency, China is the leading refiner of most minerals, such as copper, lithium, nickel, cobalt, graphite, and critical rare earths, with an average market share of around 70 percent.
