News Topical, Digital Desk : A man murdered his wife and daughter in Fairfax County, USA, on Monday morning , according to the Fairfax County Police Department. He also attempted to kill his son-in-law.
In Fairfax, a 54-year-old man named Chhatra Thapa was shot by police as he was attacking his son-in-law with a sharp weapon after killing his wife and daughter, and he died on the spot.
Mother and daughter were murdered by the father
According to the Fairfax County Police Department, officers responded to the 3900 block of Persimmon Drive around 5 a.m. for a reported assault.
Police officers found a woman outside the apartment, bleeding and writhing in pain after being attacked with a sharp weapon. Another woman was also found injured inside the home.
Police said they found 54-year-old Chhatra Thapa of Fairfax armed with a weapon and attacking another man. When officers arrived, Chhatra Thapa was attacking his son-in-law.
Police officers said they repeatedly ordered the suspect to drop his weapon, and when he refused, an officer opened fire. Fairfax County police have identified those involved in the violence.
Son-in-law saw father-in-law committing murder
The suspect, Chhatra Thapa, died at the scene, Fairfax County Police Chief Kevin Davis said during a press conference. His wife, Binda Thapa (52), and daughter, Mamta Thapa (33), were taken to a local hospital where they were later pronounced dead, police said.
Chief Davis said the son-in-law was outside shoveling snow from a car when he heard a noise from inside the apartment and called 911. Davis said the son-in-law witnessed his father-in-law killing his family.
According to police, the man saw his father-in-law use a 10-inch curved dagger, described as resembling a meat cleaver, to stab his mother-in-law.
According to police, the son-in-law was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and remains hospitalized. A one-year-old boy who was inside the home at the time of the attack was uninjured and has been released to a family through Child Protective Services.
