News Topical, Digital Desk : According to the latest data from the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), Amazon led the list of H-1B visa approvals in the first half of 2025. E-commerce giant Amazon received 10,044 visa approvals as of June 30, 2025.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) followed in second place, with 5,505 visa approvals. Microsoft, Microsoft, and Apple followed in third, fourth, and fifth with 5,189, 5,123, and 4,202. All these companies use the H-1B program to hire skilled professionals in specialized fields such as engineering, research, and development.

Hike in H-1B visa fees

Last week, US President Donald Trump announced a $100,000 annual fee for H-1B visas. This move has dealt a major blow to the technology sector, which relies heavily on Indian and Chinese professionals.

Anticipating the reaction to the decision, Trump said, "I think they'll be very happy." However, concerns about the decision have grown within the tech industry. US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said, “If you're going to train someone, train American students who have recently graduated from our best universities. Don't bring in people from abroad who will take our jobs.”

What percentage of Indians got H-1B visa

India continues to top the list of H-1B visa recipients. According to government data, India secured 71% of all visas approved last year, while China came in second with 11.7%.
