News Topical, Digital Desk : Important news has emerged regarding the Air India plane crash that occurred in Ahmedabad on June 12th. The Supreme Court has heard the case. The Supreme Court has expressed displeasure with the preliminary report and has sought responses from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau, and the central government.

It should be noted that the preliminary report in this case blamed the pilot for the accident. The Supreme Court has stated that such comments are unfortunate.

Advocate Prashant Bhushan appeared for the petitioner.

A public interest litigation (PIL) related to this matter demands an independent and speedy investigation. Advocate Prashant Bhushan, representing the petitioner, stated that more than 100 days have passed since the accident, yet only a preliminary report has been released. The report neither clarifies the cause nor provides any recommendations for passenger safety.

Bhushan said the investigation team consists of five members, including three DGCA officers, while the DGCA's role itself is under scrutiny. This creates a conflict of interest.

What did Justice Kant and Prashant Bhushan say?

Justice Kant said that a fair inquiry is necessary, but why should so many details be in the public domain? Bhushan responded that the Flight Data Recorder (FDR) records every error. It's not right to conceal this information. Justice Kant added that it would be inappropriate to release the information publicly now. Bhushan responded that the victim's family and the pilots were upset that a single line in the report blamed the pilot. Justice Kant responded that the line was very unfortunate.

Bhushan argued that the actual cause was an electrical system failure. Both engines shut down, but one sentence changed the narrative. Justice Kant responded that confidentiality was essential, otherwise rumors and misreporting would ensue. The Supreme Court now stated that the investigation should be impartial, independent, and under expert supervision. The Supreme Court issued notices and sought responses from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau, and the central government.
