News Topical, Digital Desk : Shah Jahan's Urs is being celebrated with great enthusiasm in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. On the final day of the Urs, a chadar (sheet) approximately 1720 meters long was offered at Shah Jahan's tomb. This special ritual was performed at the Taj Mahal under the leadership of Tahiruddin Tahir, President of the Khuddam-e-Roza Taj Mahal Urs Committee.

Tahiruddin Tahir explained that the Chadar started with one meter. He said, "People send us small Chadars throughout the year, and then we combine them to make a single Chadar. This time, the Chadar is 1720 meters long." This tradition has been going on for many years, and the length of the Chadar increases every year.

Cooperation of all religions

Tahiruddin Tahir explained that all religions collaborated in the making of this Chadar. People from all faiths created the Chadar, and it was offered at Shah Jahan's tomb today. He said, "Everyone came together today to perform all the rituals of the Taj Mahal Urs. This is a symbol of communal harmony."

Hindu organizations attempt to offer saffron chadar

However, during the Urs celebrations, Hindu organizations also declared they would offer a 21-meter saffron chadar, calling the Taj Mahal the Tejo Mahalaya. Following this, members of the Hindu organization were placed under house arrest by the police. However, as members of the Hindu organization tried to avoid the police and proceeded towards the Taj Mahal, a scuffle ensued. The police then brought the situation under control and had the chadar offered at a Shiva temple.

You can offer sheets of any color: Tahir

When contacted, Tahiruddin Tahir, president of the Khuddam-e-Roza Committee, stated that anyone can offer a sheet of any color on Shah Jahan's tomb. He said, "We have no objection to this. Whether it's Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, or Christian, everyone is welcome." This statement clearly demonstrates the committee's inclusive approach to all religions and their desire to avoid any controversy.

Police took control of the situation

The police administration maintained tight security throughout the event. Timely action was taken to thwart the efforts of Hindu organizations and prevent any untoward incidents. Police officials stated that the situation was completely under control and all necessary steps were taken to maintain peace.

Message of communal harmony

This celebration of Shah Jahan's Urs at the Taj Mahal is a beautiful example of communal harmony. People of all religions came together to make this event a success and spread the message of unity. This annual tradition reflects Agra's syncretic culture, where people of all faiths come together to participate in each other's festivals.
