
News Topical, Digital Desk : Irfan Solanki, former Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA from the Kanpur-Sisamau assembly constituency in Uttar Pradesh, was released from the Maharajganj district jail at around 6 p.m. on Tuesday. Upon his release after nearly 33 months in prison, SP leader Irfan Solanki embraced his wife, Naseem Solanki, the current MLA from Sisamau, his two sons, and his mother-in-law, Khurshid Begum. A large crowd of senior SP leaders, workers, and supporters gathered outside the jail, welcoming him with slogans and drums.
SP leader Irfan Solanki was granted bail by the Allahabad High Court in a case related to the Gangsters Act . According to the jail administration, Irfan Solanki was transferred from Kanpur jail to Maharajganj District Jail on December 22, 2022, under tight security on administrative grounds and has been incarcerated there since then.

Earlier on Monday (September 29th), Rizwan Solanki, brother of former SP MLA Irfan Solanki, was released from Kanpur jail, but Irfan Solanki's release was stalled. Irfan Solanki's release warrant had reached Kanpur jail, while Irfan Solanki remained in Maharajganj jail.
SP leader Irfan Solanki had been in jail since December 2, 2022, and was facing a total of 10 cases. Following a by-election, his wife, Naseem Solanki, was elected MLA from her husband's Sisamau seat. Recently, another senior SP leader, Azam Khan, was released on bail from Sitapur jail following a High Court order after nearly two years of imprisonment in several cases.
SP calls Irfan Solanki's release a victory for the party
Describing Irfan Solanki's release as a victory for the party, SP District President Vidyasagar Yadav said, " The BJP government has been framing SP leaders and keeping them in jail, but the courts are supporting the truth. Irfan's release after Azam Khan's is proof of this." Maharajganj Jail Superintendent VK Gautam said that the release was ensured after completing all legal procedures. A heavy police force was deployed in the jail premises for security reasons.
