News Topical, Digital Desk : Abu Azmi Met CM Devendra Fadnavis: A delegation led by Maharashtra Samajwadi Party state president and MLA Abu Asim Azmi met Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. This meeting was held with the aim of finding a solution to the ongoing controversy over loudspeakers in mosques. Abu Azmi submitted a memorandum to the CM in this regard.

Azmi has demanded that clear and universally accepted guidelines be set for the use of loudspeakers in mosques, so that those who try to politicise this sensitive issue can be stopped.

'Some elements are deliberately spoiling the atmosphere'

After meeting the Chief Minister, Abu Asim Azmi said, "The use of loudspeakers for Azan in mosques is done as per the guidelines laid down by the Supreme Court. Despite this, some elements are deliberately trying to spoil the atmosphere and put pressure on the administration to remove loudspeakers from mosques, due to which resentment is increasing in the Muslim community.

What suggestions did Abu Azmi give?

Azmi suggested, "A joint meeting should be held in every city with the police, representatives of the Muslim community and the trustees of mosques, so that a peaceful solution can be found through mutual dialogue and those who use this issue as a political weapon can be stopped."

CM Fadnavis discussed with Mumbai Police Commissioner

Taking the delegation's demands seriously, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis discussed the matter with Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti and instructed that restraint be exercised in any action while following the law and order. He also assured to hold a meeting with the Ulema, NGOs and other concerned parties soon.

During this meeting, Eid ul Azha (Bakra Eid) and Qurbani were also discussed. The delegation requested that the Muslim community should get full support from the police, Mumbai Municipal Corporation and the administration in performing their religious duties peacefully and respectfully, so that the festival can be celebrated with peace and harmony.

This delegation included Samajwadi Party state working president Yusuf Abrani, Razia Chashmawala, Mohammad Ali Sheikh, Syed Shaukat, Firoz Ora, vice president of Memon community and trustees of many mosques.
