News Topical, Digital Desk : Candidates from all parties have filed their nominations on the last day of filing for the Badlapur Municipal Corporation elections in Maharashtra. Major contenders are gearing up to win this election. However, the politics of nepotism and cronyism are once again on display in this election. Twelve husband-wife parties are also contesting.
In fact, 12 couples are preparing to contest this election. It appears that six members of the same family will contest. The BJP has nominated six couples for the mayoral post. Group leader Rajendra Ghorpade and his wife Ruchita Ghorpade, BJP Thane District General Secretary Sambhaji Shinde and his wife Urmila Sambhaji Shinde, city president Ramesh Solshe and Harshada Solshe, former city president Sharad Teli and Kavita Teli, Suraj Muthe and Sandhya Muthe, and Sagar Ghorpade and Nisha Ghorpade are in the fray.
Similarly, from the Shiv Sena Eknath Shinde faction, city chief Vaman Mhatre and Veena Mhatre, his brother Tukaram Mhatre and his wife Usha Mhatre, Praveen Raut-Sheetal Raut, Shridhar Patil-Swapna Patil, Jayshree Bhoir-Mukund Bhoir have been nominated.
Vaman Mhatre's son Varun Mhatre and nephew Bhavesh Mhatre are also candidates. Rupesh Thorat and Sushma Thorat are contesting from the Rashtriya Samaj Party.
