News Topical, Digital Desk : The Varanasi district administration is launching a special campaign for the Musahar community, with the stated objective of integrating them into the mainstream. In the past, they were involved in the production of illicit liquor or other activities that left their future in a dark shadow. However, now, under Operation Musahar, approximately 300 families are being provided with a brighter future.

Employment opportunities through small businesses

Varanasi Chief Development Officer Prakhar Kumar Singh told ABP Live that the administration is taking a special initiative to integrate the Musahar community into the mainstream. Around 300 families, with 1,600 members, are being directly involved in small businesses, including incense stick making, slipper making, and animal herding, among other small-scale employment activities.

They will be provided this opportunity at a designated site, approximately 80% of which is already complete. Previously, they were involved in illicit liquor manufacturing or other similar activities that left their and their families' futures in jeopardy. This initiative will provide them with a new direction.

Social awareness with the help of BHU students

Approximately 300 Musahar families, comprising 1,600 members, from the Varanasi district will be educated about basic life tasks and systems. With the help of students from Banaras Hindu University, they will be educated on issues ranging from their health to their diet, their children's education, and how small jobs can shape their future.
