News Topical, Digital Desk : News has emerged regarding Jio Payments Bank, a subsidiary of Jio Financial Services. The company has announced that it has received a contract to install an Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR)-based Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) tolling system at the Shahjahanpur and Manoharpura toll plazas on the Gurugram-Jaipur Highway.
This MLFF system facilitates electronic toll collection across multiple lanes without the need to slow down or stop vehicles. It utilizes technologies such as radio-frequency identification (RFID), ANPR, dedicated short-range communication (DSRC), and global navigation satellite system (GNSS) to ensure seamless tolling.
This tender was issued by the Indian Highways Management Company Limited (IHMCL) as part of India's pilot MLFF project, which aims to improve traffic flow and enhance passenger convenience on national highways. Jio Payments Bank has won two of the five MLFF tenders so far. Jio Payments Bank will be managing FASTag-based toll collection at 11 other highway toll plazas across the country starting July 2025. The addition of new MLFF plazas will expand the bank's infrastructure and reach into digital payments and toll processing. Vinod Eswaran, Managing Director and CEO of JPBL, said the initiative is in line with the bank's mission to digitize everyday payments and improve financial infrastructure for travelers. The company also plans to expand its collaboration with Jio Platforms to improve toll management operations and strengthen digital payments on national highways.
