A constable present at the scene said they began the search around 3 a.m. after receiving information. The constables first searched the house from outside. Later, when TVK chief Vijay arrived, police were allowed inside. "When we found nothing, we left around 7:25 a.m.," the constable said.

S.V. Shekhar also received bomb threats.

Following the incident, an assistant police commissioner told PTI that city celebrities have been receiving bomb threat emails from a Hotmail address. Last month, another actor-politician, S.V. Shekhar, also received a bomb threat email. The subject matter of these emails is similar. We have not yet been able to trace the email ID.

BDD squad told rumour

It's worth noting that earlier, on October 6th, a major national daily in Chennai also received a bomb threat email, claiming that three RDX IEDs had been planted on their premises. As in the previous case, the BDD squad, after a thorough search, declared it a hoax. The police have now launched a search for the person who made the threat.
