Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari, who is on an official visit to China, raised the Kashmir issue during his talks with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping. In the talks, the two countries reiterated the importance of their defence cooperation in maintaining "strategic balance" in the region. Zardari, who arrived in Beijing on Tuesday on a five-day visit, met Xi Jinping on Wednesday.

 

Participated in winter sports

On Friday, Zardari attended the ninth Asian Winter Games in Harbin, where Xi Jinping inaugurated the Winter Games. "The Pakistani side briefed the Chinese side on the latest developments in the situation in Jammu and Kashmir," a joint statement issued on Thursday after Zardari's visit to Beijing said.

 

China said- solutions should be found peacefully

The Chinese side reiterated that the Jammu and Kashmir dispute is a legacy of history and should be resolved through fair and peaceful means in accordance with the UN Charter, relevant UN Security Council resolutions and bilateral agreements.

 

Will increase cooperation in the field of military technology

'The joint statement on defence ties said, "The two sides stressed that strategic defence and security cooperation between China and Pakistan plays an important role in maintaining peace, stability and strategic balance in the region." The statement said the two sides will enhance cooperation in the areas of joint training, exercises and military technology.

 

Agreement on increasing security cooperation

During Zardari's visit, the two countries agreed to enhance intelligence sharing and security cooperation to deal with repeated terror attacks against Chinese personnel working in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.
