Amaravati: The Supreme Court on Friday directed the formation of an independent SIT to probe the allegations of use of animal fat in making laddus offered at the Lord Venkateswara temple in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. Welcoming the Supreme Court's direction, YSR Congress chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday said that now Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu should apologize to the people. In a press conference, he said that by cancelling the SIT formed by the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, the Supreme Court has exposed the 'real picture' of Naidu.
'Naidu should say he has made a mistake'
Jagan Mohan Reddy targeted his rival by showing some social media posts of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and said, 'When the Supreme Court has made such a comment, if he (Chandrababu Naidu) has any faith in God, he should apologize to the people. He should pray in front of Tirumala Venkateswara Swamy and say that he made a mistake. He did not do anything like that, rather they (TDP) are issuing posts through their Twitter handle (spreading false information).' Jagan Reddy said that the Supreme Court has also cancelled the SIT appointed by Naidu on the issue of adulteration in laddu.
Naidu welcomed the SC decision
The Supreme Court, while forming a 5-member 'independent' SIT to investigate the allegations of using animal fat in making Tirupati Laddus, made it clear that it will not allow the court to be used as a 'political battlefield'. The bench of Justice BR Gavai and Justice KV Vishwanathan said that apart from 2-2 officers each from CBI and Andhra Pradesh Police, the SIT will also include a senior officer of FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India). The bench directed that it would be appropriate that the investigation be conducted under the supervision of the CBI Director. Chandrababu Naidu also welcomed the decision of the Supreme Court through his social media account.
