As soon as he took over as the President of America, Donald Trump took several decisions. In this sequence, he ordered America to withdraw from WHO. Meanwhile, it is believed that America may re-enter WHO.
In fact, US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that he may consider rejoining the World Health Organization (WHO). After retaking the presidency, Trump had ordered the US to withdraw from the WHO, saying that it could not deal properly with COVID-19 and other international health crises.
What did Trump say?
Let us tell you that while addressing a rally in Las Vegas, Donald Trump talked about thinking about this. He also said that the organization will have to reform itself. According to Trump's recent order, America has to leave WHO on January 22, 2026.
What is Trump angry about?
The US is currently the largest funder of the WHO and contributes 18 per cent of the organisation's total funding. The WHO's biennial budget for 2024-25 is $6.8 billion. Trump said at the rally that he is unhappy that the US pays more to the WHO than China, which has a much larger population.
Apart from this, Trump also said that he would request Saudi Arabia to invest about one trillion dollars in America. Whereas Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman told Trump last week that his country wants to invest 600 billion dollars in America in the next four years.
