News Topical, Digital Desk : Iran has threatened to target major American tech companies like Apple, Google, and Microsoft. President Donald Trump joked, "What are they going to attack with? BB guns?"
Iran's military unit, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), said on Tuesday that if more Iranian leaders are killed in targeted attacks, it will target US companies in the Middle East/Gulf region starting April 1. The 18 companies included in the IRGC's threat include Microsoft, Google, Apple, Intel, IBM, Tesla, and Boeing.
What did Trump say?
During a White House briefing, a media person asked Trump, "The Iranian government threatened several American companies in the region today." Trump joked, "With what? What did they threaten them with? A BB gun? They don't have much left to threaten them with."
Actually, a BB gun is a toy gun that contains plastic pellets.
When the reporter was repeating the question, Trump interrupted him and said, "You made a statement. What did they threaten him with? I don't know. Tell me. How did they threaten him?" The reporter said all he knew was that Iran threatened him.
Trump then asked, "What does that mean?" and wanted to know if the Iranian military had said anything bad. He said, "You don't even know what the threat was? I haven't even heard about it. What was the threat? Did they say they were going to blow them up?"
Trump then asked, "You know what they're not going to do? They're not going to attack them with nuclear weapons."
These companies are on Iran's hit list
Iran's IRGC said in a statement on Tuesday that US companies should expect to have their units destroyed for every terrorist attack in Iran, starting at 8 p.m. Tehran time on Wednesday, April 1.
It should be noted that 8 p.m. in Tehran corresponds to 4:30 p.m. GMT/UTC and 10:30 p.m. in India (IST). "We advise employees of these institutions to leave their workplaces immediately to save their lives," the statement added.
