Rajkumar Roat, Lok Sabha member from Banswara, Rajasthan and leader of Bharat Adivasi Party, said in Lok Sabha on Monday that under a system related to Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA), women will have to mark their attendance through retina scan and in such a situation they will have to remove their veil, which is an attack on the local culture. Roat raised this issue during Zero Hour in the House.

He said, "It has been our culture that women wear a veil in front of men elder to them, including father-in-law and elder brother-in-law. But in the NREGA scheme, it has been decided that retina scan will be taken for screening, under which women will have to remove the veil to mark their presence. This rule has been implemented to attack our culture.''

Arun Govil raised this issue

During the Zero Hour, other MPs also raised their views on different issues. BJP MP Arun Govil raised the issue of alleged decline in deposits in banks. He said that banks should be allowed to do only banking related work and they should be freed from insurance work. Congress MP Hibi Eden said that gig workers should get social security facility. Nationalist Congress Party (SP) leader Supriya Sule said that the government should ensure that IDBI Bank is not privatized and it continues to be operated in the same way as it is running.

Congress MP Gurjit Singh Aujla said that grenade attacks have taken place in Punjab and the central government should take strict action. He alleged that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has proved to be a failure.
