In the Prayagraj Mahakumbh held after 144 years, a total of 15 crore devotees have taken a holy dip in the Sangam in 17 days so far. At the same time, on 29 January, on the day of Mauni Amavasya, a huge crowd of devotees is gathering in the Mahakumbh Mela area before the second Amrit Snan of Prayagraj Mahakumbh 2025. Those who are not getting tickets in bus and train are reaching Prayagraj by flight to take a dip in the Sangam. The number of devotees going to Prayagraj from Delhi and Mumbai is continuously increasing, in such a situation, airline companies have increased the fares of flights from Delhi and Mumbai to Prayagraj several times.

'Mockery of devotees' faith'

Aam Aadmi Party MP Raghav Chadha has expressed displeasure over the unbridled increase in fares by flight companies during the Maha Kumbh Mela. He called it a mockery of the faith of the devotees, and also appealed to reduce the fare. According to MP Raghav Chadha, Maha Kumbh is the biggest festival of faith and spirituality for the followers of Sanatan Dharma. In this rare coincidence, when the Maha Kumbh is being organized in Prayagraj after 144 years, millions of devotees wish to reach Teerthraj Prayagraj from the country and abroad for bathing, meditation and penance. But these flight companies are considering this holy event as an opportunity to earn unfair profits.

Normal fare increased from Rs 5000-8000 to Rs 50000-60000

Raghav Chadha said, “The arbitrariness and profiteering of flight companies has increased the troubles of the pilgrims. On the increase in the normal fare of flights, he said that the ticket which was earlier available for Rs 5000-8000, now its price has reached Rs 50000-60000.”

'Devotees are getting disappointed'

The AAP MP said that lakhs of devotees who want to go to Kumbh are getting disappointed due to high fares. These companies are not doing right with the devotees in the pursuit of their own profit. He appealed to reduce the fare on behalf of the devotees. Also, Raghav Chadha recalled the issue raised earlier regarding expensive food at the airport. On this, he said that our voice regarding cheap food had reached the government. After which the government started affordable canteens for the passengers. He said that this time also I expect from the government that the devotees will be provided with cheap flight facilities.
