A frightening video of an elephant attack has emerged from Tirunelli Attapara area of ​​Wayanad district of Kerala. An elephant suddenly attacked a bike rider. This incident is said to have happened on Saturday. An elephant that came from inside the forest suddenly attacked a man who was travelling with his family on a bike. For a few moments, the biker did not understand what to do, but somehow he restarted his bike by using his hands and legs and saved his and his family's life. This video of the elephant attack is going viral on social media. A person travelling in a car during the incident made a video.

Punishment for hunting elephant

In another news, a Kerala court has sentenced three people to three years' imprisonment in a nearly 15-year-old case of hunting an elephant in a protected forest area. The court said that the elephant is the state animal of Kerala and the case of hunting for its tusks should be taken seriously. Kothamangalam Judicial Magistrate (First Class) Haridasan E N convicted Aji, Shaji and Babu under Section 51 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act and sentenced them to three years' imprisonment. 

The court, in its January 17 order, also sentenced them to one year imprisonment under Section 27(I)(e)(iv) (trespassing into a protected forest area with intent to hunt a wild animal) of the Kerala Forest Act. Besides, the court also imposed a fine of Rs 15,000 each on the accused and said that the imprisonment sentences will run concurrently. Seven people were accused in the case, one of whom died during the trial. Another accused named Suresh is still absconding and the other two accused - Ranjeet and AJ Varghese - were acquitted by the court.
