Ayodya Dhanni Pur Masjid: On 9 November 2019, the Supreme Court gave its verdict on the Babri Masjid dispute. The Constitution Bench of five judges led by Ranjan Gogoi, then the Chief Justice of India, gave the verdict unanimously. According to this decision, the entire disputed land of 2.77 acres was given for the construction of Ram temple. Whereas as per the court order, the Muslim side was given five acres to build a mosque. The Muslim side was allotted land in Dhannipur, 22 km away from Babri.

Now it is almost a year since the consecration of Ram Mandir , however, on the order of the court, work has not yet started on the land given for the new mosque in Dhannipur village of Ayodhya. According to the BBC report, there are still only a few tents and farmers are grazing cattle there. After the court order, in the year 2020, the government handed over the land to the Sunni Central Waqf Board for the mosque.

After giving
the land to the Sunni Central Waqf Board, the board formed a trust named Indo-Islamic Cultural Foundation. The trust has been unsuccessful in raising funds for the mosque so far. After failing to raise funds, the committee formed for this was dissolved. IICF Secretary Athar Hussain said that the committee was not working properly.

According to the information given by the trust, apart from the mosque, there were plans to build a modern cancer hospital and a museum on the history of the freedom struggle of 1857. According to the foundation, a total of Rs 100 crore was needed for the mosque alone. While the hospital and museum were estimated to cost Rs 400 crore.

What is the situation?
Sunni Central Waqf Board President Zufar Farooqi said that many people are willing to donate from abroad and for this we have applied to open an FCRA account. After opening the foreign account, there will be no shortage of money. The money that came initially was spent on starting the ambulance service during Covid.

In this regard, UP BJP Minority Front President Kunwar Basit Ali said that the work on the mosque will start soon. About one crore rupees have been received for this. However, according to the report, no work has started on the land yet. Whereas the people of the village say that the date was told many times but the work never started.

The report claimed that the committee members used to come earlier on 15th August and 26th January to hoist the flag but this time that too has stopped. While Iqbal Ansari, who was a party to the Babri Masjid case, expressed his displeasure to the BBC over the lack of progress in the work of the mosque. He said that no concrete steps are being taken on this. If the board has occupied the land then it is their responsibility to start the work.
