The debt-ridden country's telecom company Vodafone Idea Ltd. has released its shareholding data at the end of the March quarter (Q4FY25). The figures show that the number of retail investors in the company has increased. By the end of the March 2025 quarter, Vodafone Idea has 59.06 lakh retail shareholders. This number was 58.34 lakh in the December 2024 quarter. That is, about 72,000 new retail investors bought the company's shares during the quarter.

Minor change in retail stake- The total stake of retail investors was 7.32%, which was 7.63% in the December quarter. That is, the number of investors has increased but there has been no major change in the stake. Investors whose authorized share capital is more than ₹ 2 lakh, their stake is above 10%.

Mutual funds also showed interest - 32 mutual funds have taken 4.5% stake in Vodafone Idea. In December 2024, 28 funds had 3.6% stake. That is, mutual funds are also gradually showing their confidence in the company. FPI (Foreign Portfolio Investors) also increased the stake- The stake of foreign investors (FPI) has increased from 9.9% to 10.1%. The government became the largest shareholder. The company has converted its spectrum dues of ₹ 36,000 crore into equity. This has increased the government's stake to 48.99%. However, the government will not be the promoter and Vodafone Idea will not become a government company (PSU). Vodafone Idea's stock is trading down at ₹ 7.11. It is trading 35% below its ₹ 11 FPO price. This stock is also below the level of ₹ 10 at which the debt was converted into equity. Its highest level in the last one year was ₹ 19.18, that is, now it has come down by 63%. Overall- The increasing interest of retail and mutual fund investors clearly shows that investors are expecting a turnaround of Vodafone Idea. However, the sharp decline in the stock and the company's fundamental challenges still remain a matter of concern. ????
