Villupuram: South superstar Thalapathy Vijay has entered politics and on Sunday addressed the first conference of his party Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK). During this, Vijay was seen in full political style and also told people the meaning of politics.

Speaking at the party's first state convention on Sunday, Vijay said politics was not a field of cinema but a field of war. He said his party members should be alert at the grassroots level. "Politics is not a field of cinema but a field of war. It is serious. Whether it is dealing with snakes or politics, if we decide to take it with seriousness and humour, only then can we survive in this field and deal with the opponents. We need to be alert at the grassroots level," he said while addressing the convention.

'Separating Dravidian nationalism and Tamil nationalism is not the objective'

Discussing the ideology of Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam, actor-turned-politician Vijay emphasised that his aim is not to separate Dravidian nationalism and Tamil nationalism. "These are the two eyes of this country. We should not limit ourselves to any one identity," he said. He underlined his party's foundation on the ideologies of secular social justice and said TVK will work accordingly.

Vijay criticised the DMK, alleging that one family was looting the state through underground deals. "I have given up my acting career to join politics. I have come here as your Vijay and trust you all. There is a group, which is singing the same tune, labelling everyone who enters politics and cheating people. They are involved in underground deals," he said.

Udhayanidhi Stalin wishes good luck

He alleged that under the guise of the Dravidian model, they are misleading the people as an anti-people government. Before the rally, Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin congratulated Vijay, calling him his dear friend. Udhayanidhi Stalin told reporters, 'I wish my dear friend Vijay all the best for his future.'

It is worth noting that Thalapathy Vijay entered politics and launched his party Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam in February this year. Tamil Nadu assembly elections are expected to be held in 2026. Currently the DMK party is in power in the state and MK Stalin is the Chief Minister.
