Vedanta Limited has announced an investment of Rs 1 lakh crore in Odisha. This will be the largest investment ever in the eastern state, which will create two lakh new jobs. Vedanta has announced this investment during the Make in Odisha Conclave 2025 Roadshow Utkarsh Odisha. This investment will be made towards setting up a 6 million tonne per annum capacity alumina refinery and a 3 million tonne capacity aluminium plant, which will focus on the production of green aluminium powered by renewable energy.

"This will lead to creation of large industrial complexes for downstream industries as aluminium has over hundreds of applications and is used across auto, power, construction and railway sectors," Vedanta said in a statement. Aluminium demand will double by 2030 Vedanta said "This investment will create opportunities for thousands of MSMEs. Aluminium is the future metal, so the demand for aluminium is likely to double by 2030." This UK based Vedanta Resources company has been an investor in Odisha for the last two decades and has invested more than Rs 1 lakh crore, creating more than 1 lakh jobs in the state. Vedanta has acquired Sijimali mines in the state through auction, which is one of the largest reserves of bauxite. Vedanta Chairman Anil Agarwal said, "Odisha has always played an important role in the growth of Vedanta. Our investments reflect our commitment to promote inclusive growth and large-scale industrialization of the state."
