The plan to provide connectivity to Kashmir Valley with other parts of the country is progressing rapidly. Under this plan, the first Vande Bharat Express is going to run between Srinagar and Delhi from April 19. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off this train. This train will run between Katra and Srinagar. In the second phase, this train will run between New Delhi and Srinagar. Railways is preparing for the second phase from August or September.

However, in the second phase, when the service between Delhi and Srinagar starts, even then, for security reasons, passengers will have to change trains for Srinagar after reaching Katra. After a halt of about two hundred and three hours in Katra, the passengers will be put on another train for Srinagar which will go from Katra to Srinagar. But for this, passengers do not need to buy separate tickets. Only one ticket will be issued for the passengers which will be from Delhi to Srinagar or Srinagar to Delhi.

Passengers' luggage will be checked during the halt at Katra. According to Northern Railway, this decision has been taken keeping in mind security and weather. Since this route is very sensitive, when passengers change their trains at Katra, their luggage will be checked again.

Officials say that reaching the mountains directly from the plains can affect the health of the passengers, that is why the passengers will be given some time to acclimatize and then they will be sent to Srinagar by train. The railways is also making separate arrangements for this entire process. Waiting areas are being made for the passengers.
