New Delhi: Ismail Kani, the chief commander of the Quds Force working under Iran's elite force Revolutionary Guard Corps, has been arrested on suspicion of being an Israeli spy. Information about Kani's arrest has come to light after he remained missing for several days. Kani was on a visit to Lebanon's capital Beirut at the end of September when on September 27, Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrullah, several of his commanders and the deputy chief of the Revolutionary Guard were killed in a fierce Israeli airstrike.
It is believed that Qani had tipped off Israel about Nasrullah's presence. After Nasrullah's death, Qani was scheduled to meet with Hashem Seifeddin, who was believed to be his successor, in early October. But Qani did not attend the meeting and the building where the meeting was to be held was attacked by Israeli planes. Several days later, Israel confirmed that Seifeddin had been killed.
Iranian agencies' suspicions confirmed
Ismail Kani was also supposed to be with Seifeddin at the time of the attack, so there was a lot of talk about his death as well, but he was found alive in Beirut. After this, the suspicion of Iranian agencies was confirmed. It is not yet certain whether Kani was arrested in Beirut with the help of Hezbollah or he was called to Iran and taken into custody, but at present he is in the custody of Iranian agencies.
He suffered a heart attack during interrogation, now waiting for his recovery
It has been revealed that Kani suffered a heart attack during the interrogation and has been admitted to the hospital amid tight security. Now they are waiting for him to recover so that he can be questioned in detail. There is also a suspicion that Ismail Kani may have a hand in the killing of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyya in Tehran. Because very few people knew about the secret whereabouts of Haniya. Since Kani was a top officer of the Revolutionary Guard, it was normal for him to have complete information about Haniya. Therefore, it is believed that on the information given by Kani, Israel got Haniya killed through its agents present in Iran.
Kani's direct involvement in Haniya's murder cannot be ruled out, because at the time of the Hamas chief's murder, there were discussions that Israeli agents were present in Iran's security agencies who provide important information to Israel and carry out incidents. Due to this, many prominent people, including Iran's former President Ibrahim Raisi, have died under mysterious circumstances.
US sanctions extended on Iranian petrochemical and petrochemical sectors
After Iran's missile attack on Israel, the US has taken strict action and increased sanctions on its petroleum and petrochemical sectors. According to a statement issued by the US Treasury Department, "This action has increased financial pressure on Iran. Its purpose is to limit the regime's ability to earn Iran's vital energy revenues to attack American partners and allies and undermine stability in the region."
The new US move involves the petroleum and petrochemical sectors. It is an executive order that targets key sectors of the Iranian economy. Its aim is to financially deprive the government of resources for its nuclear and missile programs.
