After months of legal and commercial dispute, the matter has finally been resolved and now the jiohotstar.com domain can be seen on record under Viacom 18 Media Private Limited, headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Reliance Jio and The Walt Disney officially announced the merger of their media business in the month of October. 

The journey of the domain from Delhi to Dubai and then to Mumbai 

The domain name jiohotstar.com was first registered by a Delhi engineer who later transferred its ownership to two children living in Dubai. Jainam and Jeevika, a sibling duo who run their own YouTube channel in Dubai and are popular as social media influencers. The Delhi engineer had asked Reliance to look after his education expenses at Cambridge University in exchange for the domain name. According to reports, Reliance Industries rejected it and the Dubai-based sibling duo took over the rights at that time. 

Jainam-Jeevika handed over the ownership of the domain to Reliance Industries

Jainam and Jeevika did not put any condition before handing over the ownership of the domain to Reliance Industries and handed it over to Reliance Industries without any money in exchange. In this way, the jiohotstar.com domain has traveled from Delhi to Dubai and then to Mumbai. Now Viacom 18 has taken it over and according to the records, it will be run under Manish Painuli who will work as the senior director of Viacom 18.
