Indian student Ranjani Srinivasan, who deported herself from America, has described the terrifying moment when federal agents first knocked on the door of her apartment in Columbia University. She said that the atmosphere seemed very unstable and dangerous. She did not open the door. Ranjani, a Columbia University student, had her visa revoked on March 5 for supporting Hamas.
Ranjani left on a flight to Canada
After this, she deported herself from America. Three immigration agents first came to her apartment eight days ago in search of Ranjani. They came again the next day at night, but she was not in the apartment then. After this, she packed her luggage and left her pet cat with a friend and boarded a flight to Canada from LaGuardia Airport.
Agents arrived with a warrant for the third time
Last Thursday, agents arrived for the third time with a judicial warrant and entered her apartment, but by then she had left the country. "The atmosphere seemed very unstable and dangerous. So I took this decision immediately," Ranjani, 37, said on Friday.
Ranjani was described as a supporter of terrorists
Ranjani, who was enrolled at Columbia University on a student visa as a doctoral student in urban planning, deported herself on March 11 using the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) at Home app.
In a statement, the Department of Homeland Security has described Ranjani as a supporter of terrorists. He has been accused of advocating violence and being involved in activities supporting the terrorist organization Hamas. However, the department has not provided any evidence to support its allegations.
