New Delhi. Due to rising temperatures in summer and humidity in monsoon, one sweats a lot. Such weather can be a problem for both oily skin and hair. Many types of hair related problems increase in this season and if proper care is not taken, these can become serious. Problems like hair fall, dryness, dandruff are common in monsoon. In summer and monsoon, the sebaceous glands of the head start producing more sebum (natural oil, which keeps the hair moist).

Due to which the hair becomes very greasy very quickly and there is excessive fall. Due to this the volume of the hair starts decreasing, which makes styling difficult. Excess oil and sweat provide a favorable environment for Malassezia to grow. This is a type of fungus, which is responsible for dandruff.

Important tips for oily hair care in summer and monsoon

  • To keep your hair healthy during summer and monsoon, it is most important to wash your hair regularly and properly. If your hair is very oily, then wash it every other day.
  • Choose a mild shampoo instead of a shampoo with hard chemicals. Choose a shampoo with a pH level of 5.
  • Shampoos containing natural ingredients like tea tree oil, peppermint, aloe vera are best for hair. They deep clean the scalp and also control oil production.
  • Don't just apply shampoo on the upper layer of the hair, but also clean the scalp.
  • Conditioning of hair after shampooing is also necessary, but if the hair is oily, then this step can also be missed.

Avoid hot water for hair

  • Hot water makes the oil form faster. Use normal water to wash your hair. It is important to keep the scalp cool to keep the skin balanced.
  • Comb your hair daily to prevent it from getting tangled. This helps in proper blood circulation in the head. This provides the necessary nutrition to the hair follicles , which helps in getting rid of many hair related problems.
  • Minimize the use of hair dryer for drying and straightener and curling iron for styling. These also increase hair fall.

Necessary changes in lifestyle

Hair not only enhances our beauty but also our confidence. Along with proper care, diet also plays a very important role in getting long, thick and strong hair. Increase the amount of protein and green leafy vegetables in your diet. Avoid sugary and processed food. Increase the amount of whole grains along with seasonal fruits. Most importantly, drink adequate amount of water. A healthy adult should drink 2 to 3 liters i.e. 8 to 10 glasses of water daily.

If hair related problems still persist after these remedies, seek help from an expert.
